Puricelli, however, took over CFC Genoa in 1978, which had been relegated to Serie B along with Foggia in 1977/78, and missed out on promotion, after which he went back to Foggia and coached two more times in the second division. After a year at lower-league club Football Brindisi, he returned to US Foggia in 1976 and led the club, which had just been promoted to Serie A, to relegation. Nevertheless, the team around Bernhard Kempa were given few chances in the subsequent final tournament for the German indoor championship in 1954, they were simply considered too inexperienced – the victory in the final over the serial winner since 1950, SV Police Hamburg, was perceived in the scene as a big surprise; winning the title in the same year in 1954 in field handball, which was much more popular at the time, was considered a sensation at the time. In 1940/41 they won again in Serie A. Puricelli also had his own success, with 22 goals this season, becoming top scorer in Serie A. This league success with Bologna FC in 1941 was the last league title for the club until 1964. Puricelli continued to play in Bologna until 1944 and continued to score Year among the club's top scorers.
However, he did not enjoy nearly as much success in Sicily as he did at AC Milan and the season ended with Palermo being relegated from the top flight after finishing bottom with just 22 points. After the end of the Second World War in 1945 the game was resumed in Italy, Ettore Puricelli joined AC Milan from the fashion capital of the same name in northern Italy. In the Serie A Alta Italia season 1945/46 he reached fourth place with Milan, which entitled him to participate in the final round of the championship, which AC Torino eventually won. FC Bologna ended the two seasons before play was interrupted due to the Second World War, each in a midfield position. A year later, promotion was achieved by finishing second behind SPAL Ferrara and seven points ahead of third-placed FC Modena. He finished the 1949/50 season with Legnano in third place in the second division, missing out on promotion by just three points, bettered by second-placed Udinese Calcio. After the end of the 1948/49 season Ettore Puricelli left AC Milan and joined AC Legnano in Serie B, the second highest Italian football league. For Legnano he made a total of 38 league games and scored 25 goals.
After the 1942/43 season, the game ended for the time being and Ettore Puricelli had made 139 league games with 86 goals for Bologna to date. After a brief interlude at Salernitana Calcio in the provincial town of the same name in Campania, Puricelli became coach of FC Varese in 1961, a northern Italian club in the third-rate Serie C. After finishing fifth with Varese in the first year, promotion to Serie B was achieved in 1963 by a first place in the Girona A with three points ahead of Novara Calcio. As a promoted Ettore Puricelli landed with FC Varese in Serie A 1964/65 on a good eleventh place in the table and thus managed to stay up. The FC Varese team was also very successful in Serie B and, after reaching first place in the table after all the match days, managed to get promoted to Serie A, together with US Cagliari and US Foggia, both of which, like Varese, made their debut in Promoted to Italy's elite league.
Already in his first season as coach of Milan he led the team around stars like the Swedish striker Gunnar Nordahl, his Uruguayan counterpart Juan Schiaffino and defender Cesare Maldini to win the Italian soccer championship. In the following season, Puricelli, who was given the nickname "Ettore" during his time in Italy, aimed at defending the title, but did not succeed. For the 1965/66 season he went to league rivals Atalanta Bergamo, where he was released during the season. For the 1948/49 season, however, this tragedy had no repercussions as the season was almost over by the time of the crash and AC Torino still became champions, with AC Milan and Puricelli third, with the old and new champions León coming in through this round solely on the away goals rule. In Serie A 1946/47 he finished fourth with Milan and was the second-best scorer with 21 goals this season, only behind Valentino Mazzola from renewed champions AC Turin. In 1949 the dominance of AC Turin came to an abrupt end. After retiring from football, france jersey Ettore Puricelli became a football coach. Shortly before the end of the 2010 summer transfer window, Kitson joined Liam Lawrence in exchange for Marc Wilson and an unspecified transfer fee in the direction of the first division relegated Portsmouth FC.
